How I work
Working together has four steps. Before work starts, you know what we do and what it costs.
Contact
Call or send an enquiry. Briefly describe what it is about, without confidential details.
First meeting
A review of your documents, an assessment of the situation and time limits, and an explanation of options and risks.
Written agreement
The scope of work and the fee are set in a written representation agreement, in line with the Bar's tariff.
Representation
I keep you informed about the progress of the case and the next steps.
Fees
Fees are set in a written representation agreement, in line with the tariff for lawyers' fees and expenses. The amount depends on the type of case, its complexity and the amount of work.
Different methods of calculation are possible, for example under the tariff, by time spent, or a fixed amount for a specific procedure. The method is agreed in advance and written into the contract.
Costs of the proceedings, such as court fees, expert reports, translations and notary services, are not part of the legal fee and are charged separately. All costs are stated in the contract or you are informed about them beforehand.
A lawyer cannot guarantee the outcome of a case.
What to bring to the first meeting
- Your ID or passport
- All documents relating to the matter: contracts, decisions, summonses, claims
- Correspondence and evidence of the event, if you have it
- A list of the questions you want to ask
Confidentiality
A lawyer must keep as a professional secret everything learned from the client in connection with the matter. This duty continues after the engagement ends.
